Q & A
How does it work?
The celluma device is placed over the area that requires attention. The mode that is required, whether muscle and joint repair, skin repair and anti-ageing or acne treatment is mode is set.
Does it hurt?
No!!! There is no heat or pain. The light spectrums used are safe but because of the brightness you should not look at the light. For this reason goggles are given and the eyes should remain closed if the celluma is being used over the face.
Is it safe?
The device uses red light and blue light therapy.
Neither therapy includes harmful UV rays and the lights used are safe on skin and muscle. The lights are bright and you should not look directly at the red light. For this reason googles are given and the eyes should remain closed if the celluma is being used over the face.
How long does it take?
The celluma treatment itself takes only 30 minutes. During this time you will relax under the light and can listen to music in the background.
How often is it needed?
It depends on what it is being used for. On it’s own, it is recommended 8-12 treatments however because we recommend combining it with other skin treatments as the time frame can be significantly reduced.
How can it treat acne?
The blue light has been shown in studies to kill acne causing bacteria called propionbacterium acnes. This bacteria causes the inflammation and the spots and boils that are part of the pattern of acne. As the blue light on the celluma kills the bacteria there is less inflammation. As with every treatment, the Celluma LED light therapy should be used in conjuction with a lifestyle to keep inflammation down. Diet, exercise, hormones and lifestyle all play a part in the formation of acne.
How does it help fight ageing skin?
Young skin has a healthy and abundant supply of collagen. Its this that keeps it wrinkle free, good skin texture and full of volume. As we age the cells that produce the collagen shrink and do no not produce as much. The result is the sagging skin, loss of volume and wrinkles. The red light helps restore local cellular function. This in turn increases collagen production.
